The doctor was fast and efficient when taking out your molars. He does take in consideration how you feeling to proceed with the rest of your teeth. The doctor’s assistant was good too. He let me hold his arm when I was scared so he comforted me (which it was a nice thing and much needed to calm my nerves). They did a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend them.

Your Root Canal Experts In Westchester

Are you feeling apprehensive about the idea of getting a root canal? It’s not uncommon to feel that way. But understanding root canal treatment is important for maintaining your oral health, and it’s not as scary as some people make it out to be. In this blog post, we’ll break down the different aspects of root canal treatment and debunk some common myths about it.

The Signs That You May Need a Root Canal Treatment

Let’s start with the signs that you may need a root canal treatment. These include pain, swelling, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, tenderness when chewing, tooth discoloration, and drainage in the mouth. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to schedule an appointment with us as soon as possible.

What Causes a Tooth to Need a Root Canal Treatment?

Deep decay, repeated dental procedures, cracks, and chips can all cause inflammation or infection in the pulp of your tooth. Even an injury to your tooth can cause damage to the pulp. But with a root canal treatment, we can remove the inflamed or infected pulp, clean the root canal, and seal the space to prevent further damage.

The Purpose of a Root Canal Treatment: A Closer Look

The purpose of a root canal treatment is to remove the inflamed or infected pulp from the tooth, clean and shape the inside of the root canal, and then fill and seal the space. This removes the source of the inflammation or infection and helps save your natural tooth.

Debunking the Myths of Root Canal Treatment

There are many myths about root canal treatment, such as it’s a painful procedure, it takes several appointments, or it’s not effective. But the truth is, root canal treatment is not painful and it only takes one appointment in most cases. It’s also highly effective in saving damaged teeth.

Understanding the Root Canal Procedure Step by Step

During the root canal procedure, we’ll make a small access hole in the tooth, remove the pulp, clean the inside of the tooth, and then fill and seal the space. The procedure is not painful and any discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter medications like Ibuprofen.

Retreatment and Apicoectomy: Understanding Your Options

In some rare cases, a tooth may need retreatment or an apicoectomy if the infection persists despite previous root canal treatment. The retreatment is similar to the first-time root canal, while an apicoectomy is necessary when an infection at the root of the tooth persists.

Don’t Delay Treatment: Why Seeking Root Canal Treatment is Crucial

If you’re experiencing any signs of needing a root canal treatment, it’s crucial not to delay treatment. Delaying treatment can cause the infection to spread, leading to more serious oral health problems.
